The project is located on the outermost outskirts of Baden-Baden on a gentle slope and involves the replacement of an existing single-family house. The new design is significantly influenced by the location on the edge of a nature reserve, a garden with meadow orchards, and the fading topography of the Black Forest and the urban space. Through its cubature, which decreases towards the forest, the new building mediates between the urban space and the natural space. The building ensemble consists of three separate structures: the main house, the residential building and the garage. These sit on a massive plinth that forms the basement. The typical local type of the farmstead is taken up and adapted to the contemporary and site-specific requirements. The buildings are connected by glazed corridors, and the spaces created between them form a forecourt, inner courtyard and terrace. The living rooms, bedrooms and terrace offer a wide view of the foothills of the Black Forest.
