Post Espace Bern Wankdorf – Swiss Post headquarters

At Swiss Post's headquarters in Espace Bern Wankdorf, JOP Architects oversaw the comprehensive renovation of selected areas of the existing building. The aim of the project was to further develop the functionality and spatial layout of central work and meeting areas within the existing structure.

The focus wason reorganizing workstations in defined sub-areasand redesigning theentrance areas of each floorin terms of both form and function, with new meeting areas. The central kitchenettes on each floor were upgraded to attractive lounge areas and repositioned as informal meeting places.

A key part of the project was theredesign and repositioning of the Espace Hubas a flexible workshop and innovation area. In addition, a large meeting area withfour event rooms of different sizeswas created, enabling a wide range of uses from internal meetings to larger events.

In addition, the project includedrelocating technical laboratories with test benchesfrom other locations to the existing infrastructure at Wankdorf.

JOP Architects was responsible for architectural planning across all phases of the project and coordinated the specialist planners involved in close consultation with the client.

The implementation took placeduring ongoing operations and in several stages, which placed high demands on organization, logistics, and communication.Coordinating the building services planning team posed a particular challenge, especially with regard to the phasing and staggered commissioning of the technical systems.

The project stands for the structured and precise transformation of complex existing company locations under demanding operational conditions.
