The project arose from the confrontation with the surroundings, which are characterised by residential buildings with pitched roofs, and the narrow plot of land available. This led to the concept for a narrow, gabled building that confidently appears through a simple and pictorial form of an archetypal house.

From this basic idea, we developed the concept of an "inner house" with the functional requirements of the required room programme that is enclosed by a shell in the form of a traditional house with a gable roof. The inner house takes into account the clients' wishes for a floor plan with open spaces and outdoor areas in the form of loggias. The overlapping of the inner house with the envelope creates a variety of interior, exterior and intermediate spaces. Complex and simple spatial situations alternate. The inner house and the shell are consistently differentiated in colour and materiality. Both are built as a wooden structure on top of the basement, which is constructed in reinforced concrete. The change in construction and material can be seen both from the outside and inside and is continued in the design of the outdoor facilities. Due to the recess of the basement, the above-ground cubature of the building seems to float above the top edge of the terrain.
